I received a windows 7 for my work computer through microsofts volume licensing program (techsoup nonprofit donation) and the computer is a dell e520. It has a dvd r player but it refuses to boot from the installation dvd. (I need to do a clean install bc I'm upgrading from xp). By looking at the cmos setup screen it appears that it won't boot from a usb driver either. Is it possible to split the installation dvd over a couple of cds and install from a cd?

I don't think you can install Windows from multiple CDs. It's either 1 CD/DVD or a USB driveFriend 129 / M / Los Angeles, CAThanks. Tjurns out the dvd media was defective
