I've been using AAA for the past four or five years. When I first researched it, their prices were comparable (including the AAA membership you have to purchase). And you get the benefits of being a AAA member for hotel and car rental discounts. Granted, I've been fortunate in never having to file a claim, but I've found them to be less sleazy feeling and easier to deal with than other insurance providers. Good luck, and good thinking, renter's insurance is well worth the relief.

My pleasure. One thing you should keep in mind is that if you elect to purchase earthquake insurance, it only covers damage incurred during the actual tremors (i.e. things falling off of shelves) and not the aftermath. I've heard people recommend away from getting this coverage, noting that the majority of damage is most likely to occur after the fact in fires and/or looting, though I've never been clear on where or whether this stuff is covered.
